Public Storage is a publicly traded self-storage real estate investment trust in the United States. It is one of the largest owners, operators, and developers of self-storage facilities in the world.
The Challenge
Public Storage purchased land in the city of Compton to entitle and build a 132,000 square foot self-storage building with site improvements, but was stopped due to community opposition. The City Planning Commission’s decision to not adopt Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) additionally put a halt to the project.
The Strategy
Lee Andrews Group developed a community engagement and government relations plan to gain support for this project for the development, and to overturn the decision of the Planning Commission.
